Client Work

I’ve created eLearning for Fortune 500 clients in industries including: retail, air travel, pharmaceutical, banking, and IT. I’ve been under a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) my entire career. I am therefore unable to show or discuss details of any produced client projects. However, to get a better idea of my professional experience, I’ve divided my exposure into three categories.

Simulations

These replicate a physical space or an applied experience, and allow learners to freely explore in a sandbox environment. I’ve worked on many simulation projects. They provide endless creative freedom, and are generally produced within the mindset of a game. Instead of lengthy text, learners can interact with the 2D environment. Some examples of my responsibilities on these projects include:

  • Working closely with instructional designers, programmers, and client team to determine game design and direction.
  • Creating rounds of wireframes both on my own and during meetings.
  • Pushing client's branding for elements not considered in brand standards, such as meters and speech bubbles.
  • Overseeing 3D designers and illustrators to ensure simulations use accurate, high-fidelity assets.
  • Organizing and documenting the full selection of assets and documents to allow for easy future updates regardless of team member’s exposure to the project.

Courseware

These are informational and interactive modules that range in subject matter from soft skills to new product offerings. Interactivity can range from articles of text to quizzes to minigames. There is some software to build these sorts of courses, but all of the projects I’ve worked on have been custom-built by a team of writers, instructional designers, and programmers. This means my teams have been able to dream up any interactivity to create a fully immersive experience. Some examples of my responsibilities on these projects include:

  • Providing learners with the knowledge they need to learn and then letting them practice in realistic, branching scenarios.
  • Allowing for flexible design layouts to accomodate any amount of text, since scripts may not be created until after production begins.
  • Creating a large range of visual styles, from completely stylized and divergent from branding to adhering strictly to brand standards.
  • Styling multiple states for elements, such as correct multiple choice responses, and opened and closed custom captions.

Portals

These are websites learners must log into in order to access their simulations and courseware and any secondary features like favoriting and notifications. Admin-facing features include a robust reporting system that tracks user progress and completion. Generally, I’ve worked on portal projects where I’ve also designed the simulations and courseware it houses. Some examples of my responsibilities on these projects include:

  • Designing content-rich dashboards in a hierarchy that guides learners to their next task and prevents information overload.
  • Working closely with programmers to organize and style admin-only features.
  • Creating social features, like leaderboards and challenges, and determining the optimal way to encourage engagement in these optional features.
  • Utilizes component-based thinking and client branding to minimize CSS and allow for ease of adding additional features down the line.
